How to move folders with CopadoFolders and subfolders can be committed and deployed with Copado in the same way other metadata types are committed and deployed. The folder (or subfolder) is selected in the metadata grid on the commit page if you are moving components with user stories or you can also select them in a Metadata deployment step if you are moving them org to org without using Git.
The folders will appear with "Type" the corresponding metadata type they're storing (Reports, Dashboards, Email Templates, Documents).
This is how different folders look on the metadata grid:
This is another example:
As you can see, report folders will be of type Report, document folders will be of type Document and so on.
You only need to know the name of the folder to find it on the grid and select it.
If you are working with Metadata that stored in Folders and Subfolders (Reports, Dashboards, Email Templates, Documents), please consider the following:
- Lightning Email Templates are not supported by the Metadata API.
- If the parent folders or subfolders don't exist in the destination, the deployment will fail.
- Root folders have sharing settings <sharedTo> where users are referenced. We recommend using Environment Variables to avoid issues during deployment.
The deployment of subfolders is not supported by Copado at the moment. You can check this KI-00002 in the Community for more details.
