A default credential is a credential that Copado automatically adds to all the promotions where the destination org is the same org as that of the credential regardless of the user creating the promotion. This default credential can be very helpful if a user doesn’t have a credential in the org to which they are deploying or if several developers are working on the same environment and need to share the same set of credentials (refer to the Sharing Credentials article for further information about how to share credentials with your team members).
If you want to mark an existing credential as default, simply select the Default Credential checkbox on the relevant Credential record:
From now on, Copado will use this credential in all the promotions whose destination org is tied to that credential. However, suppose you want Copado to use this particular credential only if the deploying user doesn’t have a credential in the destination org. In that case, you can select Only If User Has No Org Credential in the Promotion Default Credential picklist field in the Environment record of the destination org:
The same behavior applies to validation promotions; the default credential of the destination org is always selected by default in all validation promotions. If you want Copado to apply this behavior only if the deploying user doesn’t have a credential in the destination org, you can update the Validation Promotion Default Credential field in the Environment record of the destination org and select Only If User Has No Org Credential.
