Exporting, Importing and Cloning Templates

Updated 10 months ago by Copado Solutions

Copado enables you to clone, export or import automation templates to other orgs once you have finished building your template. Let’s see how you can do this.

Export Template

Once you have entered all the required parameters in an automation template, you can save it and also export it:

When you click on Export Template a JSON file is generated  and attached to the Data Template record:

You can view this file, download it, share it and create a public link.

Import Template

If you have an automation template file you would like to import into your Copado org, you can do so from the Deployments tab. To import an automation template, follow the steps below:

  1. From the Deployments tab, select the All list view and then click on the Import Template button to import the json file of an automation template you have previously exported or that has been shared with you:

  1. You will need to upload the json file, and Copado will then create the corresponding Automation Template record with all the steps and configuration. Once the import process is completed, a list of imported templates will appear:

In order to leverage the Import and Execute Template features, the Salesforce org must have the Enable Lightning runtime for flows checkbox flagged in Setup -> Process Automation Settings.

Clone Template

If you have an automation template you would like to clone, you can do so from the Automation Template record. To clone an automation template, follow the steps below:

  1. From the Automation Template record click on Clone Template:

  1. When the clone is completed, you need to click here to be redirected to the new Automation Template record.

The cloned template will include all the child step records and will follow the naming convention Clone of [Template Name]. This eliminates the need of recreating automation templates manually.
